Winter Squash – Butternut Early Remix

$4.25

Packet (~30 seeds)

Description

Butternuts are notoriously difficult to ripen in cool, northern climates. While a few hybrids pull that off, most open-pollinated varieties on the market are better suited for warm areas with long seasons. So when we stumbled across Butternut Early Remix Squash in the Adaptive Seeds catalog, we were intrigued. Back in 2005, they launched this variety by allowing several early hybrid butternut varieties to cross. They’ve been selecting the resulting population for earliness and a traditional butternut shape ever since.  In 2017, we started selecting this variety for even earlier ripening (we’re in the Puget Sound and Adaptive Seeds is in Oregon). The result is a long-storing butternut squash with a diversity of shapes and sizes. Oh yeah, it’s delicious too. Expect fruits between 2 and 5 lbs.
