Mustard Greens – Green in Snow

$4.25$30.00

Description

Green in Snow Mustard is the last mustard standing after several hard frosts, even outlasting many of our kales. Long, bright green, serrated leaves pack some heat when raw but quickly mellow-out when cooked. Densely leaved, upright plants are ideal for cutting and bunching. This heirloom from Southern China provides added food security for those extra cold winters!

Days to Maturity: 20 to baby, 40 to full size
Latin name: Brassica juncea
Life cycle for seed saving: Annual

Planting Instructions:
Direct seed Green in Snow Mustard as soon as soil can be worked or start
indoors 2 weeks before transplant. Seeding depth: ¼”.  Full-sized plants: transplant 8-12” apart with 12-24” between rows. Baby leaf: direct seed 4 seeds/inch with 5” between rows.

All of our seed is Non-GMO and Certified Organic by Washington State Department of Agriculture. We grow the majority of our varieties here at Deep Harvest Farm on Whidbey Island while we purchase the rest from other small, organic Northwest seed growers. Finally, all of our offerings are open-pollinated (OP) so that you too can save and share seed from these plants!
