Salad Turnip – Tokyo Market

$4.25

Packet (~400 seeds)

Description

We’ve long been on the hunt for an open-pollinated salad turnip that matches the popular Hakurai hybrid turnip in sweetness and silky texture. Enter Tokyo Market Salad Turnip : While a bit crunchier that other salad turnips, it boasts that same sweet flavor and juiciness. You’ll often catch employees on our farm munching them straight from the soil. Their eating quality more resembles a sweet, tender radish than an actual winter turnip. The turnips are most commonly eaten raw,  sliced thinly into salads and slaws or eaten whole with hummus or dressing.  When cooked they become incredibly juicy and are great on winter salads or mixed into roasted root dishes. As a bonus, their greens are super nutritious and flavorful, making a perfect side dish to the roots. This is a fast maturing turnip that is best grown in the spring or fall.
