Bachelor’s Buttons – Classic Magic

Price range: $4.50 through $7.50

Description

These dramatically attractive cuties won our hearts with their assorted firecracker-like petal bursts. Cream, lavender, lilac, plum and bi-colored edible blooms on 36-40” plants will surely make fans of any person or pollinator who crosses its path.  Classic Magic Bachelor’s Buttons are a staple filler flower in our summer CSA bouquets as they can quickly add a variety of creamy purple shades that we all find darling. Also called Cornflower, this once wild plant was named for its proliferation among European corn fields. The term Bachelor Button was adopted after men supposedly began using them in the buttonholes of their suits, indicating they were in love or ready for courting. Brought to the US in the 17th century.
