While technically a sauce tomato, Salvaterra’s sweet, zingy flavor will temp the grower to eat it straight off the vine. Ranging in shape from a roma to a round beefsteak, it grows copious yields of dense, meaty tomatoes perfect for canning, saucing or fresh eating, with fruits reaching up to 1lb! Salvaterra’s Select won our 2022 Roma tomato trial both in flavor and yields. It’s the perfect dual purpose tomato for the backyard or market garden. This heirloom has been grown and shared in the Hazleton, PA community since the 1950s.

Planting Instructions:
Start Salvaterra’s Select tomato indoors mid-March through early May. Optimal soil temperature for germination is 75-85°. Seed depth: 1/8”. Plant spacing: deter. 12-18”, indeter. 24-36”. Harden off before planting in ground. Plant in full sun after danger of frost has passed. Indeterminate varieties will require trellising.
All of our seed is Non-GMO and Certified Organic by Washington State Department of Agriculture. We grow the majority of our varieties here at Deep Harvest Farm on Whidbey Island while we purchase the rest from other small, organic Northwest seed growers. Finally, all of our offerings are open-pollinated (OP) so that you too can save and share seed from these plants!
