Radicchio (Chioggia) – T&T 4050

Price range: $4.50 through $15.00

Description

Chioggia Radicchio is arguably the most famous of all chicory types, as it commonly adds that iconic maroon color to commercial salad mix. Beyond bringing its bittersweet flair to salads, chioggia is excellent in soups, risottos or just grilled plain and sprinkled with olive oil. T&T4050 produces large dense heads perfect for fall and early winter production slot. We’ve harvested this variety through several deep frosts. The outer wrappers do an excellent job of protecting in the inner hearts. We discovered this variety originally through the Osborne Seed catalog years ago, but it’s been dropped from US production. We’re thrilled to introduce it to our PNW farmer and gardener friends.
