Bean (Bush Dry) – Early Warwick

$4.50

Packet = ~50 seeds

Description

Early Warwick won our 2024 dry bean trials for its early maturity and high yields. The beans are big and creamy, holding their shape and texture when cooked. The plants are stocky and thrive in cool spring temperatures. Early Warwick’s red beans with white speckles were traditionally grown before 1890 in Warwick, England, later preserved by the country’s Heritage Seed Library. But really, why should we even be messing around with dry beans? PNW plant breeder extraordinaire Carol Deppe makes a strong case for dry beans in her book The Resilient Gardener, hailing them as a reliable, easy-to-grow source of protein that can store for years in the pantry. The sheer diversity of bean shapes, colors and sizes, paired with the joy of threshing them underfoot, makes them a clear garden winner!
