Description
A vigorous open-pollinated broccoli with dark blue-green, tender heads and a staggered maturity window. In 2012, we trialed eight open pollinated broccolis and this strain, a diverse population developed by Dr. Jim Meyers at Oregon State, was the all around winner for its blue-green color and impressive head size. Ever since, we’ve selected Island Market Broccoli for the largest, most dense and uniform heads, and we’ve landed on a variety we are proud to sell. Best for spring and early summer with prolific side shoot production. Other northwest farmer-bred broccoli varieties, including Solstice and Meyers Best, came from the same original breeding population.
