Mustard Greens – Frizzy Joe

$4.25$30.00

Description

In 2019 we trialed over a dozen green frilly mustards in search for the perfect salad green. Frizzy Joe Mustard dazzled us with its over-achieving frilliness, lime-green color, bolt-resistance and mild mustard flavor. We combine it with Scarlett Frills, tatsoi, mizuna and Red Giant Mustard to grow hundreds of pounds of spicy salad mix every year for our local chefs and CSA members. Option two: Allow Frizzy Joe to mature and harvest as large mustard greens for soups or sautes. Grown by Saltwater Seeds.

Days to Maturity:  20 to baby, 40 to full size
Latin Name: Brassica juncea
Life Cycle for Seed Saving: Annual

Planting Instructions:
Direct sow or transplant Frizzy Joe Mustard as soon as soil temps are above 45°. Seeding depth: ¼”. Seeding rate for baby leaf: 3-4 seeds/inch. If starting indoors, transplant at 12-18”. Row spacing: 18-30” for full size.

All of our seed is Non-GMO and Certified Organic by Washington State Department of Agriculture. We grow the majority of our varieties here at Deep Harvest Farm on Whidbey Island while we purchase the rest from other small, organic Northwest seed growers. Finally, all of our offerings are open-pollinated (OP) so that you too can save and share seed from these plants!
